The short version
- Advertised prices for a 10 kW on-grid system span a very wide band — published market figures have ranged roughly from PKR 900,000 to 1,900,000 depending on city, equipment tier and what is included.
- That spread is not a mystery. “10 kW” describes the panels and nothing else.
- The cheap quote is usually cheap in the mounting structure, the protection devices, the earthing and the cable sizing — the four things you cannot see and cannot fix later.
- Ask for the equipment list in writing before you compare anything.
- Waiting for prices to fall costs you a full electricity bill every month you wait.
Ask five companies what a 10 kW solar system costs in Pakistan and you will get five numbers, with the highest close to double the lowest. Customers reasonably conclude that someone is lying. Usually nobody is. They are quoting different systems and calling them the same thing.
Here is what actually sits inside the number, and where the difference hides.
Why does the same size cost so differently?
The parts everyone quotes
- Panels. The headline number. Tier and warranty vary more than most buyers realise.
- Inverter. The brain, and the component most likely to be the first thing that fails. Brand and service network matter more than the spec sheet.
The parts that get quietly thinned out
- Mounting structure. The panel carries a twenty-five year warranty. The steel or aluminium holding it up frequently carries none. Section thickness, galvanising weight and clamp type are where a quote gets cheap fastest.
- DC and AC protection. Surge protection, breakers, isolation and fusing. Invisible, cheap to omit, and the reason for a meaningful share of solar fires.
- Earthing. Frequently a single rod hammered in and never tested. It should be designed, installed and measured, with the reading handed to you.
- Cable sizing. Undersized DC cable loses you generation every single day for twenty-five years and will never announce itself.
- Application and meter. The DISCO application, the demand notice fee and the bi-directional meter are real costs. Some quotes include them, many do not.
- Civil work. Ballast, penetrations, waterproofing, cable routes. Ignored in the quote, argued about on site.
We manufacture our own mounting structures, so when we tell you the section and the finish, we are describing something we cut and pressed rather than something we bought from whoever quoted lowest that week. You can see the structure specifications here.

Send your last electricity bill. You will get a system size, a full component list with brands and quantities, and one price — the kind of quotation you can actually put side by side with another.
What about hybrid systems?
Adding storage adds cost, and under the 2026 net billing rules it also adds a clearer financial case than it used to have. When exported units earn a fraction of what imported units cost, storing a surplus unit and using it at night is worth considerably more than selling it. We explained that shift in detail in net metering to net billing.
The honest position is this: batteries are no longer a comfort purchase, but they are still not automatically worth it. It depends entirely on how much of your load runs after sunset. A company that recommends storage without asking that question is selling, not designing.
How to compare two quotations properly
Put them side by side and fill in this table for each. If a supplier will not give you a row, that is the answer to the row.
| What to check | What a good answer looks like |
|---|---|
| Panel brand, model, quantity, warranty | All four stated in writing |
| Inverter brand, model, warranty, local service | Named, with a service contact in Pakistan |
| Structure material, section, finish, warranty | Specified, and warranted by the installer |
| DC and AC protection devices | Itemised, not “as required” |
| Earthing method and test report | Measured value handed over at commissioning |
| Application fee and meter | Stated as included or excluded |
| What is explicitly excluded | A written exclusions list |
Most buyers compare the bottom line. The bottom line is the least informative number on the page.
Should I wait for prices to fall?
We will say the opposite when it is true. If your roof is heavily shaded, if your load runs almost entirely at night with no appetite for storage, or if your building cannot take the structural load, we will tell you that solar is not the right spend — and we would rather tell you before you pay than after.
Have a quotation from someone else you want checked?
Send us a photo of it. We will tell you what is missing from it, whether or not you buy from us.
Solar pricing: questions people actually ask
How much does a 10 kW solar system cost in Pakistan?
Why do quotations for the same size vary so much?
What costs are usually left out of a cheap quote?
Is the application paperwork included in the price?
Will prices fall if I wait?
The bottom line
A cheap solar system is not cheap. It is a normal system with the invisible half removed, and you find out which half in year three, usually in July. Ask for the equipment list, ask what is excluded, ask who warrants the structure, and the wide price band suddenly makes sense.
